Canaima and Angel Falls

To the south of the Orinoco River you will find The Canaima National Park, a tourism paradise with an infinite variety of natural resources and amazing landscapes. Our most famous destination is the Angel Falls in the Venezuelan jungle, an exotic adventure place where reality transforms itself into a fantastic backdrop for the legendary. Canaima, is without any doubt, one of the most spectacular places in earth.

The Angel Falls is more than 3,000 feet high, and the highest free-falling waterfall in the world. You will be able to see several other waterfalls and ride some rapids traveling up or down river in dugout canoes (with outboard engines and Indian river men), accompanied by an English/Spanish speaking guide who will tell you about the legends of this mystic place.

You will also go to Salto Sapo (Sapo waterfall), in which will live the experience of walking behind of a curtain of tons of water that falls hardly a few centimeters next to us. Between jungle and plain will alternate in this excursion with visitors of all parts of the world, lovers of the nature that have found in Canaima, the purity and tranquility of a virgin land, full of magic, legends and personages.

Excursions during the Rainy Season (June to December):

Full day Tour:

Upon arrival at the departing Airport you will proceed to the counter where you will be checked by our personnel who will indicate to you the departing gate, time and will introduce you with the Tour Guide who will give you detail information about the Tour.

After a short flight from Porlamar (Margarita Island) you will be able to see the National Park of "Laguna de las Marites" and shortly after The Island of Coche. Once we leave the sea behind you will be able to see The "Araya Peninsula" as well as "Chacopata Peninsula" which is part of Sucre state a few minutes after we will cross a range of mountains called "Sierra de Turimiquire" which belong to Sucre state but it also considered as part of  "The Andes" range of mountains which ends on the Eastern most tip of Trinidad and Tobago Island, for those of you that have a sharp eye it will be a great opportunity to see some Geological faults crossing this mountain range.

After flying "The Sierra of Turimiquire" we will be flying the "Eastern Llanos", the "Llanos" are flat land that crosses our country through the middle of its territory, these lands are very important to our country for its Agriculture and the production of "Cebu" cattle's, but the most important is the "Uverito" an extension of 4.500 Kilometers aprox of Pine tree plantations of the (Pinus Caribea) species which is considered the largest plantation of Pine trees in America made by humans, from our plane you can see the wide extension of the plantation from one side of the aircraft to the other side.

After we leave the "Llanos" behind we meet the Orinoco River with its 2.100 Kilometers in length is considered the most important River of our country but what it makes this River unique is the natural link to the Amazonian basin trough the "Casiquiare Arm", this arm links the "Orinoco" basin to the "Amazonian" basin though Rio Negro unique case in our planet.

As we cross the "Orinoco" we will be on our way to "The lost World". At this point we will be flying over the "Caroni" river second in Importance after the "Orinoco" river and with almost 1.000 Kilometers in length. What makes this river very important is its hydroelectric production, actually with tree dams in full operation, one under construction and four projects for the future that easily guarantees electric power to Venezuela for the next 50 years; saving the oil production only for exports only. One of these dams is actually the second most powerful in the world with over 10.000 megawatts of electric power being produce every hour.

Just after leaving the "Caroni" River behind we will fly over the "Canaima National Park" and its "Tepuis" this flat top mountains that have an average age of tree billion years old, considered the oldest in the world. At this point of our trip we are heading to the "Devils Canyon" area where the "Angel Falls" are located, the highest free fall in the world with its 1.014 meters, named after the North American pilot, James Crawford Angel, well known as "Jimmy Angel" who came across this waterfall on the 25th March, 1935; years later on the 9th of October, 1937 he crash landing at the top of a tepuy mountain, he made headlines worldwide, turning this fall from a Myth to a Reality !!

After landing to "Canaima National Park" you will have to pay your entrance fee and then be taking to the Tour Guides, which will indicated you where you can change your clothes (If necessary) as well as you will be given a snack of crackers, fruits, sodas, coffee and more. just before our excursion starts.

In Canaima you will have the opportunity to visit "El Sapo" falls or "El Hacha" falls depending on the season while you navigating on a "Dugout Canoe" by the "Pemon Indians" the third ethnic group of Amerindians in terms of population, they preserve very much their culture, traditions and they language; which include two additional vowels that helps reproduce their language in written form.

Finishing the excursion around the park, you will have a typical lunch being serve by the "Pemons" in a vary traditional way and the be taking to they shops to buy handcrafts and souvenirs maded by locals as well as maps and brouchers related to the park and Venezuela.

After this fabulous walk around the park and some pictures are well documented we will take our flight back to Margarita Island, once you arrive in Margarita's Airport our Tour Guide will be awaiting to take you back to your Hotel and then you can tell everybody about this wonderful full day experience with us in this unique place in the world.
