Trinidad is also blessed with the huge 46-hectare Pitch Lake
located South of the island, the source of most of the
world's asphalt. The
prices in Trinidad are often lower than on many other
Caribbean islands in the entire West Indies.
The twin islands
of Trinidad and Tobago are the Caribbean's odd couple.
Trinidad is a densely populated, thriving island with a
cosmopolitan population and strong regional influence
and Tobago is a relaxing little island with beautiful quiet
sandy beaches, huge protected rainforest and cozy
guest houses and Hotels. |

There are festivals year
round in Trinidad, but with the largest and wildest
Carnival in the World it well worth attending, even joining
it. Port of Spain, our bustling capital city, is filled with an
enchanting myriad of art galleries and restaurants. The National Museum
where you can delve into the culture of our country and its diverse
people.
You can find inexpensive inns and
guesthouses. Since most of the restaurants cater to locals,
dining prices reflect the low wages.

It is untypical in its tourism,
it has few beach hotels
on the North-east and instead it is known for its natural
and cultural life. Bird-watching in Trinidad is by
far the most extensive and the finest in the whole
Caribbean.
Trinidad, with its boot-like
shape measuring 37 x 50 miles, boasts an ecological and geographical
diversity unmatched in the region. The gorgeous, sandy beaches along our
North Coast provide the perfect atmosphere for seclusion, rest and
recreation. Dominated by densely forested peaks, the northern interior
offers excellent hiking trails, while the low, predominantly agricultural
plains of Central Trinidad strike a fascinating contrast on its
diversity. |
